
The active ingrediant in marijuana (the one that makes you high), has been shown in studies to be a powerful antibiotic–one that could be effective against illnesses where current drugs do not work.
Fortunately, (or unfortunately) there are unpsycoactive plants in the same family that may have similar medical uses. Like all medical treatments, this will require much more testing and development, but it does throw another log onto the “why the hell is this so demonized by the DEA?” fire.
